Six-time Grammy winner Ronnie Milsap was one of the 1970's and 1980's most popular and influential country music performers. A crossover hit, he had songs that appealed to both country and pop audiences. He has often paid tribute to some of the artists of the 1950's who inspired him including Ray Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley. Milsap's songs incorporated rock and roll, R&B, and pop influences. Some of his hit songs include favorites such as "Smoky Mountain Rain," "(There's) No Getting Over Me," "I Wouldn't Have Missed it for the World," "Any Day Now," and "Stranger in My House." Ronnie Milsap had 40 number one hits, outnumbered only by George Strait and Conway Twitty. Ronnie was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
Charley Pride also had a great amount of musical success in the 1970's as seen by his 29 number one hits. Some of his most famous songs include "All I have to Offer You (is Me)", "(I'm So) Afraid of Losing You Again," "I Can't Believe that You Stopped Loving Me," "I'd Rather Love You," "Is Anyone Goin' to San Antone," "Wonder Could I Live There Anymore," and "I'm Just Me." His hit "Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'" was a crossover hit appearing on the pop and adult contemporary charts in addition to hitting number one on the country charts. Pride was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
